The enigmatic Alasdair Ferguson lived in Cluer in Harris. He had fought in the Boer War as a young man. His war experiences and his vibrant community inspired him to compose many songs.

Donald MacDonald was one of South Uist's best known bards of the 20th Century. MacDonalds poetic output gave "Bardachd Baile" a new dimension. He also chronicled his war experiences in "Fo Sgail a Swastika" recently voted the best Gaelic book ever written

Donald Morrison was a native of Ness in northern Lewis. His songs of homesickness and praise for his native isles still have a strong resonance today.

Iain Cameron was a native of InverAsdale, Gairloch. A decendant of the renowned Tournaig bard. Iain Cameron's own poetry ranges from light verses recounting hilarious episodes from villlage life to his more sombre war poetry.

Murdani Kennedy is a retired seaman, fisherman and whaler living in South Lochs in Lewis. His verse compositions are witty and contemporary in the true spirit of village poets.

Murdo Sheumais was a crofter and seaman living in High Borve in Lewis. His songs are firmly rooted in his community but his experiences at sea and in love feature prominiently. His more humourous compositions are also a celebrated part of his output.
